Talaterra Podcast

I was delighted to be interviewed by Tania Marien on the Talaterra podcast this summer! Here’s the link to our conversation, which is about 40 minutes long. Our conversation focused on how to create bilingual learning environments, and I sent her all sorts of wonderful links that are included on the website.

This interview was such a lovely reminder of how much I love working in museums and what fun adventures my career has taken me on so far. We recorded it shortly after Woodland Park Zoo announced massive layoffs to its education department, so there’s a definite thread of “what happens next?” in the conversation. Talaterra is all about environmental education and freelance career paths, and has a wealth of insights for folks who might also be planning their next steps in a pandemic-challenged job search.

During our conversation, I also got in some gentle digs at my dad. He was famous for drafting myself, my brother, and any of our friends as his default field assistants on his geology expeditions in the Mojave Desert. Here’s a bonus link to a classic episode of California’s Gold which features him taking the show’s host to salt flats and scaling Amboy Crater in the scorching sun.
