Science Illustration

Patience, focus, and attention to accurate details… Complex science topics make so much more sense when communicated with clear and beautiful images! I studied science illustration at the University of California at Santa Cruz. I work in both digital and traditional media.

Shown here is a detail of a larger panel. This digitally-created mural is part of OMSI’s Roots of Wisdom traveling exhibition, which explores the interaction of traditional Native knowledge and Western science.

How a sundew traps insects

Sketched with colored pencils and watercolor, this is part of a series of illustrations showing the hunting techniques of different carnivorous plants. We used hand-drawn illustrations liberally in the Plants are Up to Something exhibition in the Rose Hills Foundation Conservatory for Botanical Science at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens.
